Erik is a serial entrepreneur. He is heavily involved on the front lines of the cannabis industry, having been introduced to the industry during the legalization phase in Colorado and following this up with providing business counsel to the top retailers and producer/processors in Washington State. Clients value Erik for his sense of strategy, diplomacy and willingness to jump into the trenches with them to improve their businesses.
Erik has a long track record of pro-bono public legal service, gaining him recognition in both Colorado and Washington states, including the 2014 Pro Bono Attorney of the year award for the Colorado legal aid project. Erik has also been a repeat speaker on the cannabis industry, presenting both in 2016 and 2017 for the National Business Institute continued legal education on Marijuana Law.
Successful representation has included the settlement of over a million dollars worth of injury cases through trial work and settlement, and dozens of bench trials.
In the marijuana law practice, Erik has assisted in rehabilitating numerous retail and producer operations, obtaining licenses for clients, and navigating the complex and often frustrating regulations that the industry is tied to. Erik has a particular interest in drafting creative contracts to serve client’s specialized needs.
Attorney & Counselor at Law
With Claudia, it’s personal. She gets to know her clients and their needs. Whether it’s a short-term document matter, long-term litigation needs or ongoing business and personal legal issues, Claudia’s clients always receive her detailed and personal attention. She doesn’t work on many cases at a time, focusing on the areas where her passion lies and where her clients have seen the best results. She is currently licensed in Texas, and her application to the Washington State Bar is pending.
A Texas Trial Lawyer since 2003, Claudia served individuals and small businesses in West Texas until she moved to Seattle in 2015. After a civil general practice in Midland, Texas, Claudia now focuses on Personal Injury, Probate, Employment Law, and matters of Small Business. “Paperless & Virtual” was her goal long before it was a thing. A lifetime as a legal secretary and administrative assistant before going to law school gives her patience and intensity with an ability to translate between all levels of clients and the legal system.
Claudia currently serves as legal consultant to Erik Halverson’s law firm in Normandy Park. She assists his team with Personal Injury, Probate and Small Business matters. Stay tuned for Washington State practice areas when her licensing is complete. Her Texas practice is currently limited to Personal Injury.
A graduate of Texas Tech University School of Law, J.D. (2003, magna cum laude), Claudia also earned a Master of Arts in English (University of Texas of the Permian Basin). Her proudest academic achievements were at the University of Texas at Arlington (B.A., 1993, magna cum laude).
Claudia passionately served as a founding officer of the Permian Basin Trial Lawyers Association (2008-2015), and she adored her ten years with TEXAL TRIAL LAWYERS ASSOCIATION.
An avid hiker and trail runner, Claudia’s motto is: Let’s Go Outside!
